Back to full time missionary work

Hey Mom and Dad,

It was good to get your letter and it's ok that you didn't write last week I guess you guys were pretty busy! It's good to hear that everything is going well and that everyone is enjoying their summer break. So I've back to being a full time proselyting missionary! WOW I forgot how much I love talking to people all the time it's great! Burnaby is an awesome area, on Sunday we had a baptism with Jay Singh he's 18 years old and it's crazy because he started to meet with missionaries a little over a month ago and he already has been baptized! He's a really nice guy I was really happy that he made the decision to be baptized!

Burnaby is very different from Richmond because Burnaby is so much more multicultural. In Richmond there was Asian people everyone because Asians are about 65% of Richmond's population, while in Burnaby there are people from Africa, India, South America Italy, France and many Canadians. We have some way solid investigators too, they have a sincere desire to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ and take into their hearts the message. So that really helps too the Lord truly is preparing his people here. My new companion's name is Elder Clarke, he's from St. George Utah, so I think he is my 3rd companion from Utah and already I've been with 7 different companions!

I know that there are going to miracles here in Burnaby I can feel it! I'm going to give it my all and put my trust in Heavenly Father and he will take care of the rest! I was sad to leave Richmond though, because there were some investigators there that I got to be pretty close with, especially since I was in Richmond for 4 1/2 months, but it good because since we were there longer our investigators opened up to us much more and they trusted us. But I know that it's not us that truly helps people but it's Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the spirit that truly change people's lives.

In the next few weeks all missionaries in the area are going to be given portable DVD players so that we can learn from the Preach My Gospel DVD's, I think it's sooo cool! Especially since I learn things and they stay with me so much more when I watch rather than when I read in a book or something like that. But I'm really excited because I know that watching them will really help us improve so that we can help our investigators even more.

I'm so grateful for the companionship of the spirit that we have on our missions. It helps us teach so MUCH! This week an investigator asked a pretty hard question that I never even heard of in my entire life, but out of nowhere an idea came to my mind what to talk about and so I started to speak and it was as if I wasn't even speaking. One thing that I noticed is that when we have the spirit with us when we teach, our investigators learn when they feel the spirit and we learn from the spirit as well.
Elders Lahache and Williams with Camala
So our new mission President came in today, his name is President Middleton, I haven't met him yet I don't think we'll be seeing him any time soon either he's going to be supper busy. We might see him next week though because we're going into Richmond next Monday to learn Kung Fu! Richmond is only about 20 minutes away from Burnaby if that, I think it's so funny because I can go to every single area that I've served on my mission in less that an hour drive! But I'm excited to work with President Tillman, I'm sure he'll do an awesome job!

So you can still send packages to the U.S. Address I'll have the office call us when we get it and I'll probably go pick it up on our next p-day because Richmond isn't very far. From Harry & David's ummm I'll take some of those sweet chips and mix! That would be sweet! We get alot of desserts from members here so our fridge is like full of different desserts, so I should be ok without the cookies. I can't really think of anything else that I need....actually a new pair of pants would be good, I don't know how I do it but I'm wrecking alot of my pants and then I got and fix them. But there is this one pair that is beyond repair! I don't know how this happens, I mean I went to Loyola wearing a suit everyday and nothing ever happened to my clothes! But on my mission so much of my clothes are getting wrecked, it's crazy!

So yeah I forgot to bring my camera this week because I'm so used to having my camera with me at the office. But I sent you a picture of Me, Elder Williams, and Camala the day before I left Richmond.
 Have a good week!

 Love you

Transfered to Burnaby!

Hey!

How is everybody!!!! Well today is the day that we are getting our transfer calls, I honestly I have no idea what to expect. I'm pretty sure that either Elder Williams or myself will be transferred, I think I might be because when President Nelson goes home he is taking the mac back with him because he bought it! I'm really going to miss it because it's so nice to have with all the work that I've been going in the office, lately I've been going alot of graphic design I'll send you some of the ads and different stuff that I've been working on! So yeah I'm thinking that things are going to change quite a bit this week, so I'll ask President if I could tell you if I'm getting transferred tomorrow because we find out tonight.

But I'm excited and I know that no matter where I go it's where the Lord needs me to be! I've never been in an area as long as I've been in Richmond so it's probably going to be hard for me to leave, if I leave just because if I get comfortable in an area then I really resist the change. It will be good though change is always an interesting experience for me :).
One of my designs
The work here was slower than it has been for the past few weeks, many of our investigators cancelled appointments that we had set up so we spent much of our time on the streets contacting people. It reminded me of when I was in Delta we used to do that there all the time! I love going out and just contacting people though, I love feeling the road on my feet and the wind, I always feel like I have the spirit quite strongly with me when we're street contacting. I think it's mostly because I have no idea what we're going to say when we start talking to people, but we just start by saying something and then really the spirit just takes it from there. I have learned to put my trust in the Lord and when I do that he is always there to help us out.

This week I had some really good personal studies, usually in my studies I like to read a few book like Jesus the Christ, The Book of Mormon, The New Testament and a Book of Mormon study manual that I have. But this week I tired something new I decided that I would just focus on the Book of Mormon and just read that for my whole morning study and then I would write down my thoughts feelings etc. in my study journal. I feel that I've learned so much this week and I know that it was because I decided to focus my studies on the Book of Mormon. Lately I also find that I am relying more and more on using the scriptures to help me when we're teaching people. Using the scriptures while we teach really helps to bring in the spirit, the Book of Mormon just has that power.

Hey remember a few weeks ago we did a training the mission about mormon.org well we have it online and if you want you can watch some of it here http://www.livestream.com/canvanmission/video?clipId=pla_28be359c-ba3b-4a9f-af57-4d66e0636ad0. It's three hours long though so it's ok I you don't really have to watch the whole thing.

Oh I tried to send out the package for real last week, but apparently Canada Post is on strike that's messed up and really inconvenient so now it's sitting here in the office and I'm just waiting for these people to get off strike so I can finally send you those videos.

So did you guys do anything for father's day yesterday? I have to say happy father's day to SONNY BOY!!! I was thinking about you alot yesterday dad and I am so happy that your my dad your like seriously the coolest dad in the world. I always tell stories about you to different missionaries and they always say wow your dad sounds like such a cool guy! I'm just like yeah he is, then they always ask me if you seriously have a new york accent and I just say yeah he does! =) So yeah if I could I would send you one of those awesome jibjab cards!

Today we're going pick up those temple pass along cards so I'm really excited to see how they turn out! Anyway I have to run we got to go run a quite errand for President. If I have time I'll write more later today!

Super Joe my favorite player
I am getting transferred! To Burnaby! I think it's pretty sweet! I'll be in the same city where Joe Sakic grew up. But I'm excited Burnaby is a nice place I've been there a couple of times. So yeah I should get getting many pictures with our investigators this
week and I'll send them to you next week!

Love you! you guys are awesome!!!!!

Last Zone Conference For President and Sister Nelson

President Nelson and Elder Lahache
Mom and Dad!

Last week was great but before I forget I want to answer a question that I think I forgot to answer last week in my letter home. So there aren't that many Wal-marts in B.C. it's weird instead there is this store called the real Canadian superstore and basically it's a Wal-Mart wanna be, but the closest Wal-Mart for me is about 30 minutes away. Yeah so I don't know how you would be able to send me those pictures.

But last week we had Zone Conference and it was great. It was President and Sister Nelson's last time that they would be giving a Zone Conference on their mission, they're leaving in about 2 weeks, so it was a bit of an emotional experience but the spirit was really strong. We talked about learning and gaining a testimony of every principle in chapter 3 of Preach My Gospel, then being able to teach those principles simply, powerfully and relevantly. I think it's awesome, it's given me something new to start working on and it's helped me to see that there is always a way that we can improve. But yeah it was a two day Zone Conference the first day it was in Delta my old area and then the second day it was in Langley in my other old area so I got to see my past two areas last week! It was really nice and it brought back many memories it made me just realize to just how fast time is going by and how precious this time I have being on a mission is. The second day we ended with singing the Army of Helaman song, almost everyone was crying just because it was so emotional, every was happy and thankful to have President and Sister Nelson with us but we are also sad because they're going to be leaving soon.

Today we get to go to the temple I'm so excited it's been a really long time since I've been to the temple and I'm excited to go and feel the spirit that is there.

This week we were able to meet with Camala, she's doing so well. But we have to go and get running to get to the temple on time. I'll write you more when we get back!

Those kids in the zombie video, they were just randomly here while we were in the office doing weekly planning. They're the kids of members in the ward here. They were banging on the door for almost 2 minutes and then finally we decided we could video it and make it look like it's ZOMBIES OUT THERE!

We just got back from the temple! It was awesome! I learned so much and I received answers to my prayers. It was nice to be able to go to the temple it's really nice and it's alot bigger than it looks on the outside.

Oh yeah and next week is transfers so we'll see what happens, I think if anything I might be getting transferred, Richmond has been my longest area on my mission. I like it here a lot but I don't really think I would mind if I got transferred. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Oh and Dad I heard that the Canucks are in the Stanley cup finals! That means that on Wednesday people are going to be going crazy whether they win or lose. President has given us permission to watch the game on condition that there is a non member there. So if a member invites us over to go watch the game with them we might. I'm not sure yet. I think that the Canucks are going to win though, I just think it's crazy how they get wrecked whenever they go to Boston. Apparently Boston's goalie is really good!

Sister Nelson and Elder Lahache
Work in the office is going really well! We just ordered some pass along cards for the temple and I designed them, so I thought that was really cool. Many of the missionaries are excited to get them and start passing them around. President said we'll order 500 for the first order and if they are used well then we'll start ordering more I'll have to send them to you! Oh and that package that I keep meaning to send is still here, well at least it's wrapped up now! I'm sorry we've just been extremely busy here and we barely get time to eat even! But I'm pretty sure that I will be able to mail it this week and then I guess I'll send you the pass along cards in a letter or something!

So it sounds like you guys are super busy at home too! Tell Doda that I said happy birthday and that I love her!

Anyway I got to get going we have an appointment in about 15 minutes and we still have to drive there!

Love you, have a good week! =)
